GUITAR TUNER – a great time saver and easy to use to tune your guitar. If you have a piano in the house (hopefully an in-tune one) that will do. Dedicated Guitar Tuners are convenient, but they won’t teach you how to hear a pitch and tune to that, so in addition a PITCH PIPE would be a nice item to have to tune with.

METRONOME – keeps you in time, allows you to start slow and build up speed at a controllable pace.

A GUITAR STAND – highly recommended! Always keep your guitar out in the open – you will hear it calling to you whenever you are near.

A MUSIC STAND – have a comfortable, accessible setup to do your thing in.

PRACTICE JOURNAL – keep notes, write down questions you may want to ask later.

A GUITAR POLISHING CLOTH AND CLEANER – treat your instrument well, and it will return the favor.

EXTRA STRINGS – there’s never a music store open when you need one.
