The simple truth is Rick loves music and started playing at the age of 8, and he's been performing, recording and producing music ever since.

He put together a few electric guitars in his day, and even created a sculpted Bugs Bunny guitar for Warner Brothers once upon a time -- but his true passion these days is in building bluegrass mandolins and guitars from a player's perspective. The melding of rich tone, ease of play, and handcrafted artistry are built into every instrument.

Rick has joined with luthier and great friend, Dann Ross on this venture. Dann has been building his Tanner Creek custom acoustic guitars for almost 15 years, but is now lending his talents to building bluegrass guitars and mandolins.

More and more folks are discovering the great balanced tone. easy playability and overall attention to the quality, craftsmanship and superb detail that goes into every Hayes Guitar and Mandolin. Here are some of the endorsers you might recognize:

Ron Block - Guitarist and Banjo Player for Alison Kraus and Union Station

Clay Hess - formerly with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, as well as Mountain Heart, Sierra Hull and Highway 111, and now with his own band, The Clay Hess Band.

Shawn Lane - Guitarist and Mandolin player for Blue Highway

Sierra Hull - Sierra Hull and Highway 111

all in addition to Rick Hayes himself with his band, Nightflyer.

So..Who's Playing Rick Hayes' Guitars?
