Tailwater TW-A5
Tailwater's newest model - the TW-A5 - is made with a teardrop body, using the same hand-carved solid woods, finish, and exacting precision just as their TW-F5 mandolin.
They enlarged the body slightly from a standard A5 mandolin and tuned it for a responsive, open, and rich sound.
To enhance midrange and bass, the Tailwater TW-A5 body has been widened by 5/16 inch at its broadest point minor adjustments are made to the depth as well. These changes are proportionate, resulting in a slightly larger body.
The re-curve on the top has been extended slightly, and the edges of the top have been thinned.
While the difference may not be immediately noticeable unless compared back-to-back with a standard A5 model, the impact on sound is significant.
This design emphasizes the richness of the mid and low registers while delivering a strong chop and clear high frequencies.
